AirCombat III was a definitive combat simulation developed in Japan for NEC PC-9801 series.
The player is a fighter pilot for a military NGO and fly various fighter at various places in the world.

MAIN MENU(BRIEFING ROOM)
The package contains a 70 page manual and 3 floppy disks.
It is possible to install on the Hard Drive.

In this simulation, the time is the begining of 21st centry. The player is a fighter pilot of the MACH(Mercenary Air force Control Headhunter). The MACH is a military NGO for training and dispatch of fighter pilots.
A face of the player and a wingman are selectable. And the difficulty is selectable.
The main menu consists of BRIEFING ROOM, TRAINING ROOM, VIDEO ROOM, PRIVATE ROOM.
The BRIEFING ROOM looks a operation center. It is an entrance to campain.

The TRAINING ROOM looks a simulator with motion. 20 missions for training are selectable.
Playable aircrafts are F-14, F-15, F-16, F/A-18, F-22, F-117, F-4, F-5E, A-10, Su-24, Su-27, MiG-21, MiG-29, MiG-31, Rafale, Harrier, Tornado, JAS39.

STATUS@PRIVATE ROOM
In the VIDEO ROOM, the player can edit and play some video of recorded missions as in AirCombat II.
In the PRIVATE ROOM, the player can see kill score, point and his rank.

Avionics and weapon

The cockpit sonsists of a HUD, a display for auto tracking camera at the left side, a display for omni directional RADAR or map at the center, displays for close-in RADAR at the right side.
There are a little differency between older and new fighter.

Graphics

Screen resolution is 640~400 pixels and 16 colors. It give a similar inpression to AirCombat II.

Flight model

The handling is similar to Yugeki-oh II and AirCombat II. There is no dynamics.
max speed, acceleration, handling are chenged on each aircraft, but flight envelope is a straight line.
